This ceremony provides a moment for reflection, remembrance, and the inclusion of personal touches that celebrate a life.
Personalising the ceremony
Every farewell is unique. An Ashes Placement Ceremony can be tailored to reflect the individuality of your loved one. Families are welcome to:
- Invite a priest, minister, or civil celebrant to lead the ceremony.
- Play a favourite song or read a special poem.
- Include a small memento such as a photo, memorial card, or rosary beads within the ashes container (please note: mementos must be delivered 24 hours prior and cannot be retrieved later).
- Raise a toast with champagne or share a moment of reflection with family and friends.
On the day of the placement
To ensure a smooth and respectful experience, the chosen memorial position will be carefully prepared ahead of the ceremony.
- A Centennial Park team member will meet you at the memorial position at a pre-arranged time.
- Families may choose to place the ashes themselves or have our team complete the placement on their behalf.
- You are welcome to stay at the memorial for as long as you need after the placement.
Gathering after the ceremony
Many families choose to continue the remembrance in a more relaxed setting. You may wish to:
- Book a private venue in our Function Rooms to share memories with family and friends.
- Reserve a table at Wildflowers Café for a meal or coffee together.
Our Memorial Consultants can assist in arranging post-ceremony gatherings to help make the day as seamless as possible.
Booking an Ashes Placement Ceremony
To ensure your chosen memorial location is properly prepared, Ashes Placement Ceremonies must be booked in advance. Our Memorial Consultants are available to help you organise any personal elements to ensure the ceremony reflects your wishes.
