What is witness of cremation commencement?
A Witness of Cremation Commencement allows family and close friends to be present at the beginning of the cremation process, and, if you wish, initiate it.
This moment of farewell is an intimate way to say your final goodbye in a supportive, safe environment, offering a sense of closure before the cremation takes place.
Witnessing the cremation is a deeply personal decision. Some families choose to do so for:
- Religious or cultural reasons.
- A personal sense of closure, offering a meaningful moment of goodbye.
- Reassurance that their loved one is being treated with care and dignity.
On the Day
On arrival, a Centennial Park team member will welcome you and your funeral director to our private witness of commencement room at your prearranged time.
If requested your loved one’s coffin can be in the room for you and your family to spend some quiet, private moments before the cremation.
When you are ready, our team will gently explain each step of the process and invite you or a family member to initiate the commencement of the cremation.
Once you are ready to leave, if you wish, you can gather with family and friends in one of our Function Rooms or reserve a table at Wildflowers Café.
Your Funeral Director will be able to assist you with bookings and any further arrangements.
