What happens when an interment right expires?
Centennial Park contacts the interment right holder well before expiration. If the position is not renewed, a final notice is placed at the memorial before it is reclaimed. The space may then be prepared for future use.
How do I know if an interment right has expired?

Can I renew or extend an expired interment right?
Yes, you may be able to renew, extend, or convert an interment right to ensure the memorial remains in place. Renewal options include converting to perpetuity, extending for the original term (30 years for ashes/plaque-only positions and 50 years for burial positions), or adding a minimum of five years, as required by the SA Burial and Cremation Act 2013.
What happens if an interment right is not renewed?
If a burial position is not renewed, any remains are carefully relocated within the same grave at a greater depth. For cremation memorials and plaque-only positions, ashes are respectfully placed in an unmarked area within Centennial Park.
How will I be notified about an expiring interment right?
We send written notices to the registered contact well before expiration. If contact cannot be made, a notice may be placed on the memorial, and in some cases, published in local newspapers. To ensure you receive updates, call us at (08) 8276 6011 to update your contact details.
Are all interment rights at Centennial Park perpetual?
No, perpetual interment rights have only been available since 1 August 2015. If an interment right was purchased before this date, it may require renewal.
