John Robert (Jack) Wilson (1882-1964)
I, Leah Joy Bird, write this memorial in loving memory of my Grandfather (Pa Pa), John Robert (Jack) Wilson.
Loving husband of Ethel Victoria (nee Green) and father of John Simpson, Malcolm Gordon, Eva Merle, Winifed Dempster, Aileen Mary, Jean Elizabeth, Joyce Ethel & Beryl June.
Grandfather (Pa Pa) of Kevin James, Leah Joy & Yvonne Kay Melville (children of Joyce Ethel) & 12 other grandchildren.
John Robert (Jack) Wilson was born in 1882 in Portland, Victoria, as the first child of Robert Wilson and Mary Jane Simpson. He had two siblings, namely: Christina Adelaide, and Isabel Mary.
He was baptised in St Stephens Church Portland, Victoria.
The family moved to Hergott Springs SA abt 1883.
On 31 March 1908 he married Ethel Victoria Green, (daughter of John Green and Catherine Dempster) at Farina S.A.
Five Children, John Simpson, Malcolm Gordon, Eva Merle, Winifed Dempster & Aileen Mary were all
born at Hergott Springs SA between 1909 and 1915. Three daughters, Jean Elizabeth, Joyce Ethel & Beryl June were later born at Mile End between 1917 and 1926.
The family moved to Adelaide about 1916 and lived at 50 Darebin Street, Mile End.
Jack worked in the SA Tramways.
He died on 28 December 1964. He was cremated and his ashes are located at Centennial Park Cemetery in the family gravesite, General D, Path 8, Grave 594.
