Alice Jane Burnett was born on December 10, 1879, in Warrnambool, Victoria, her father, Alexander, was 29 and her mother, Margaret, was 24. She married Henry Priest Lakin on January 17, 1899, in Adelaide, South Australia. They had nine children in 16 years. She died on June 26, 1961, in Fullarton, South Australia, at the age of 81. A loving wife and Devoted Mother.
