Forever Flowers
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Living Legacy Forever Flowers Garden?
The Living Legacy Forever Flowers Garden is a new sustainable memorial option available for the first time in South Australia exclusively at Centennial Park.
It is an environmentally conscious way to return loved one’s ashes to the earth by using a scientific process to turn the ashes into flowers that will live on in the beautiful, landscaped garden for friends, family and future generations to enjoy.
Why is Centennial Park introducing Living Legacy Forever Flowers?
Centennial Park recognised the need to adapt and meet the increasing demand for sustainable and less emission intensive memorial options. The introduction of Living Legacy Forever Flowers aligns with the goals identified in our Environmental Sustainability Plan and the generational movement towards alternative and sustainable end-of-life choices.
Who is Living Legacy?
Living Legacy was established in 2014 and developed its first living memorial landscape in Lilydale in 2017. Since then, Living Legacy has gone on to become a global leader in soil science creating living memorial landscapes that enrich life with empowering legacy impacts.
It is the only company in the world to have created new forest at scale from cremation ashes, partnering with leading Government and industry bodies to create a national network of Living Legacy forests and gardens.
How does Living Legacy work?
Living Legacy have formulated a scientific process that detoxifies and turns ashes into micronutrients which are infused into the Forever Flowers Garden to help it grow, so a person’s life can be perpetuated through the flowers of thousands of seeds and seedings.
Why is it better for the environment?
According to research, high pH and salt levels can make the impact of scattering ashes worse for ecosystems. Human cremated ash is high in sodium – 200 to 2000 times higher than plants can tolerate. They are rich in phosphates, calcium, potassium and sodium, all of which are not in the balance required by plants for healthy growth.[1]
The Living Legacy treatment detoxifies and balances pH of the ashes so it can sustain and perpetuate life through trees, plants and flowers.
